Sleeping Beauty said it best, “They say if you dream a thing more than once, it’s sure to come true.” I am here to testify that her statement is absolutely true! For years I dreamed of becoming the most coveted title I know, Miss Teen International. With hard work, determination, and a little bit of bling, I am blessed to say that my dream came true! It still puts me in awe when I hear the words “Jurnee Carr - Miss Teen International 2011,” but nonetheless I am humbled by this opportunity and can’t wait to see how God will use me!
As Miss Teen International, I am a voice for animals. During my reign, I will continue my work with my platform Jurnee’s Journey: Helping All God’s Creations and further my service on the Youth Advisory Board for The Humane Society of the United States. I am also working closely with the American Heart Association as the official Teen Ambassador for my local AHA chapter. I believe in nonstop hard work and I am ecstatic to utilize the power of the crown to make an impact in the world.
Another one of my jobs is being a big sister. My younger siblings keep me on my toes! My brother, Daxx, is an avid sports fanatic. It’s a blessing to be able to help coach him in the sports that we share a love for, such as basketball, football, and golf. My little sister, Jaecee Rae, is a diva. She is always asking to wear my lip gloss! We love having tea parties, reading, and playing dress up! Being a big sister has skilled me with responsibility, patience, and a love for Disney cartoon movies! We all 3 love playing with our 3 lb., 11 oz. Chihuahua, Chi-Chi!
Here are some other quick facts about me: I love to read, travel, run, and watch movies! Sports will always be a part of my life. Since I could walk I have played basketball, volleyball, track & field, and golf. I also volunteer for the American Heart Association, ASPCA, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Speedway Children’s Charities and numerous Humane Societies both locally and internationally.
